Thinner is a perfect example of how Stephen King can take a good idea and turn it into a horror story.  More of us could stand to lose weight than not.  Wouldn’t we love to be able to eat anything we wanted and still drop pound after pound?  Dropping so many pounds that we risk a heart attack, however, is an issue.  Only the most deranged among us would want the gypsy curse that our protagonist is faced with.

I have a conflicted relationship with this novel, to be honest.  It was OK, and certainly an easy read, but I think that had it not been branded as a Stephen King novel, it might not have sold at all.  It might have been shoved into the Miscellaneous B section of book stores.
